What means raw honey?
Question number one most people ask is what Raw Honey. Raw honey means that this honey hasn't been pasteurised (heated to high temperature), processed or micro-filtered (filtered under high pressure through a micro-filter to remove small particles like pollen.
Most importantly it is free from antibiotics and has not been infused with any additional flavourings or sweeteners
Commercially available honey on market is usually heavily processed, pasteurised and heated to make it more appealing for the customer. Also honey bought from our local shops may also be blended with other low quality honey or mixed with refine sugars. These processes destroy all the vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes that the honey contains. Pasteurisation also reduces honey’s nutritional value, benefits and quality.
Our organic honey we do test in certified laboratory to meet the high quality standards of raw honey. We use sustainable beekeeping practices and use natural and ecological remedies for treating bees. This way we can ensure the honey is real and preserves all of its natural beneficial qualities.
Is your organic honey pure or adding any sugar to it?
Yes, our honey is 100% pure and natural and is not processed, pasteurised or filtered. Is also not infuses with any other flavours and keep honey natural flavour and goodness!
Why has my honey crystallised?
Honey crystallisation is purely a natural process. All raw honey sets over time depending on its characteristics and nutrient composition. Only honey which has been processed or pasteurised may stay in its original state throughout the whole time. This is because pasteurised honey goes through high heating in high temperature. This is where all the natural properties of raw honey are lost.
Natural honey carries small particles of pollen or propolis in it as raw honey is only filtered from big solids. Pollen carries many nutritional values. And the different composition of minerals in it may lead to honey crystallising sooner or later. For example, Acacia honey or honeydew remains in liquid form for long time of period.
Should crystallisation occur, gently warm the jar in hot water to return to liquid state but please make sure that the temperature is not higher than 40 degrees Celsius.
How do I store and use my organic honey?
Please store your raw honey in cool and dry place. Make sure it is out of direct sunlight and that the lid is always fully closed after use. When left opened for pro-longed periods of time, due to its qualities, honey may attract too much moisture and can become spoiled.
You can use your honey with any dish or drink or have it on its own. If you’re using honey with tea, we recommend to let the tea get slightly cooler so that the heat does not destroy all of the natural and healing properties of raw honey.
Where does your honey come from?
Our raw honey comes from Romania from Little village name of Maglavit in Dolj County and all hives are located right in their orchard, near an acacia forest, 2 km from the Danube river.
Is The Nature Queen organic honey?
Yes, our honey is organic.
Why is raw honey not suitable for children under 1 year of age?
Raw honey is full of different minerals, nutrients and vitamins that have natural healing properties. In addition honey may also carry non-toxic and friendly bacteria called Clostridium botulinum. However as children under 1 year of age are more sensitive to whole environment there is a risk of this bacteria surviving in infants stomach. Therefore, to prevent the risk, we place a warning on the label “Not suitable for infants under 12 months”.
Once there is no risk, raw honey is fully recommended to be used by children. Scientific researches has shown that children had better blood system and skin colour. Additionally the research has showed that children were less prone to illnesses due to stronger immune system. Fun fact is that babies on raw honey diet cried less too.
Is your honey suitable for vegetarians?
Yes, our honey is suitable for vegetarians.
Is honey vegan ?
We can't advise on whether it is suitable for vegans as there are different opinions to whether honey is or not. However, we are able guarantee that our honey is sourced ethically.
